Christmas Heartache

Not having your child with you is obviously the most heart wrenching way to spend your Christmas.

Now, not having any funds to actually GET her gifts... That brings on a whole other feeling of heart wrenching pain.

I know it's not about Christmas. I know it's about Christ and his birth.

But, I am dying.

I broke down at Target today because I could only afford her a barbie doll with a $5 coupon. Which made the doll $5 bucks itself. I was on the phone with a friend while asking the concession's lately for a cup for ice water when I burst into tears. A friendly gentleman grabbed my arm and told me to breathe- it was all going to be ok.

That's when I sat in my car for 10 minutes crying my eyes out. I don't see this being ok. I don't see an end to this. (and no I'm not just talking about Christmas)

I ache. I ache so badly and don't have the courage to ask for help.

Oh, and I miss Bailee. I miss her immensely. I want to be the one with her on Christmas morning. I want to tuck her in and read her our traditional story on Christmas Eve. I ache for her as well.

So this is Christmas...

...and I am actually NOT a Scrooge this year. It is so awesome to be so excited and happy about Christmas!!

Bailee is, of course, getting spoiled. (like always) I can not wait to see her cute, little, excited face tomorrow morning. She's pretty much getting EVERYTHING she asked for.

Christmas should be great! We are going to spend it at my Grandparents tonight. I am very much looking forward to spending Christmas Eve there. It is where I spent Christmas Eve every year while growing up. It will be my first year since having Bailee... I can't wait!!

I am also very excited to spend this first Christmas holiday with Mike. He actually gave me my gift early- I got a new CAMERA!! (thanks babe!)

Ornament Swap

So, this year I participated in a Christmas Ornament Swap.

I must admit...I was a HUUUUUGE slacker in getting my Ornament sent out. But, I have a valid excuse...my hubby hasn't been working...and I have been working shifts of 7-7...5 days a week!!

Anway, I swapped with Kristina, and this is what she sent me:

Santa has arrived in Utah!!!!!

According to this...Santa has officially landed in Utah!!

My child is and has been asleep for the past hour...hope yours are all as well!!!

Last weekend Bailee was invited by her friend to go see Santa with their family...here is that picture...I think it is my favorite!!

Today I am thankful that I am getting Christmas Day off!!! Up until yesterday I was scheduled to work...

I don't feel so 'bah-hum-bug' anymore!!

Christmas Quizzicle

1. Wrapping paper or gift bags? Wrapping paper...some oddly shaped things I'll place in a gift bag.

2. Real tree or artificial? We've only used a fake while married...however, I do love the smell of the real ones!

3. When do you put up the tree? Whenever Eric gets to it! LOL...this year I begged and pleaded and he got it done on December 2nd!

4. When do you take the tree down? Again...when Eric gets to it. Last year it was about 3 or 4 days after Christmas....usually we try and have it down by New Years.

5. Do you like eggnog? No, I do not.

6. Favorite gift received as a child? Depends on the year and the age...when I was 6 or 7...it was my Barbie house with the Elevator...now when I was 15...it was my Dr. Martens and Lucky Jeans! lol

7. Do you have a Nativity scene? We have one that Bailee got at the Primary Christmas Party last year...I need to invest in a really, really nice one.

8. Hardest person to buy for? Bailee...she's spoiled and has everything! (no joke)

9. Easiest person to buy for? Eric...I know him better than I know myself!

10. Worst Christmas gift you ever received? Toilet Paper at White Elephant gift exchange.

11. Mail or e-mail Christmas cards? Mail...although this will be year 2 that I haven't sent any out...this girl has been busy with the OT this season!

12. Favorite Christmas Movie? Elf

13. When do you start shopping for Christmas? Less than 2 weeks before...(I am horrible...I haven't started yet...that's what I'll be doing all weekend!)

14. Have you ever recycled a Christmas present? Who me?!? No way!

15. Favorite thing to eat at Christmas? Hickory Farms Turkey Sticks!! (I need to get one!)

16 Clear lights or colored on the tree? They are colored

18 Travel at Christmas or stay home? We are always traveling....this year it is going to be spent home...I have to work both Christmas Eve and Christmas Day...That's why I am feeling a bit...BAH HUMBUG!!

19. Can you name all of Santa's reindeer? Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Donder, Blitzen...and the most famous reindeer of all...Rudolf

20. Angel on the tree top or a star? We haven't ever placed anything on top...our tree looks beautimus with just a few ornaments.

21. Open the presents Christmas Eve or morning? PJ's on Christmas Eve...the rest in the morning.

22. Most annoying thing about this time of year? Christmas music on repeat...(thanks FM100)...and Long Lines...Crowds and such

23. Favorite Christmas tradition? (these are from when I was a child) Deli Sandwiches at Grandmas on Christmas Eve...and then all the grandkids opening up their PJ's and then after changing into the PJ's...marching around doing the "Belly Button" song......Waffles on Christmas Morning.

24. Up early or sleeping in? I wish we could sleep in...it's always up early...and nap afterwards while the kids play with their toys.

25. Who hands out the gifts? Usually me...we take turns opening...

26. Does Santa wrap your gifts? Nope...all Santa gifts are left out in the open...everything wrapped is from Mommy and Daddy.

27. Do you tell the Christmas story? Eric's family does.

28. Do you leave cookies for Santa? Of course!!!

What is your favorite Christmas Movie??!?!!

You are only allowed to choose one. So, you are supposed to think good and hard about that ONE that is better than all the rest.

I am going to have to go with Elf. Christmas Vacations has always been a favorite...but I LOVE Elf! I love Will Ferrell...and I just...LOVE Elf!

Alright, to answer Tiburons question:

What do I want for Christmas this year...

I think everyone should know by now that ALL I want for Christmas is to pee on the stick and finally see TWO lines...instead of that heart-breaking one.

But, what I really want this year is for Eric to be able to get on to a wonderful job that will open him up to some new opportunities. I love that man to pieces...and all I want is for him to succeed!

I also want Bailee to have a wonderful Christmas. Despite the fact that I have to work on Christmas Day...(and possibly Eric, if he gets a new job before then)...I really just want her to have a good time!!

And for my 'material item'... I would really like a new camera. I doubt I will get it...(because the one I want is super expensive...) but, that's what I want.
